Kwon Youngil is a cinematographer / DP from Seoul, South Korea.
After studying his first film education at Kyung Sung University in Korea, Kwon started his professional film career as camera assistant and lighting grip in Korean film industry for six years, credited over 15 feature films and a variety of commercials and music videos with cinematographers such as Youngchul Kim, KSC and Sungje Lee (The Chaser, The Yellow Sea).
In 2008, he came to England to attend for his BA film production course specializing in cinematography at the Northern Film School (NFS). During his film course he shot several award-winning films including "Edith" (2010), which was named on Official Selection at the Plus Camerimage cinematography festival in Poland and won the prize for BBC best of the North at the Exposures film festival, UK and also screened in numerous international film festivals and across the UK. And his 2012 film “Tell my Story” directed by Rajesh Shinde has got the UK finalist of the 39th Student Oscars Academy Awards 2012 and currently traveling the international film festival circuit. Another of his film " Duty Of Care" directed by Iyke Obi won the peoples choice award (overall best film) at the 2013 RATMA International film festival UK.
Kwon is trying to expand his working sphere in both Korea and UK and hopes to have the opportunity to collaborate with as many as would work with creative filmmakers who has a passion to create images and stories to share with each other.
Kwon has an MA Degree in cinematography from NFS and currently working on a couple of feature projects in Korea and UK.
